The power of parents’ love
While it is well understood parents often put their own relationship to the side to meet their children’s needs, it turns out that might not be the best approach.
Using unique data from Nepal, researchers from the University of Michigan and McGill University in Quebec has found the affection between parents shapes their children’s lives in surprising ways.
The study has found when spouses demonstrate their love for one another, their offspring are more like to stay in school longer.
The academics followed the children involved for 12 years to understand their education and marital behaviour. They also discovered children of parents who reported they love each other were likely to marry later in life.
